Valentine’s Day is around the corner, so we’ve got a twist on the classic masala chai: we’re going to swap out cinnamon for cinnamon hearts. Check out the video to see if it worked!


  • ginger
  • 6-10 pods of cardamom
  • 5-6 cloves
  • pinch of black pepper
  • 2+ teaspoons of loose leaf black tea
  • cinnamon hearts


  1. Using a mortar and pestle, crush together the cardamom, cloves, black pepper, and cinnamon hearts
  2. Add sliced ginger and spices to boiling water & let it boil for a minute or so
  3. Add 2 heaping teaspoons of tea
  4. Once tea is desired strength, add milk (to your taste)
  5. Stir, remove from heat and strain
  6. Add sugar (to your taste)

So what do you think? Good or #BadIdea? Definitely better than tea brewed with 100 teabags, that’s for sure!
