I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not very good at Instagram. I’ve never considered myself a photographer, and even though Instagram has supported video for a number of years now, at its core, it’ll always be a photo sharing platform to me – a place for people to curate and share the life that they want, rather than the life that they might have. And while there isn’t necessarily anything wrong with that, I think I’m just better at telling stories with moving images rather than static ones.
That being said, photography is a skill, and one that I want to develop. I want to be more active and grow on Instagram – and like every other platform that I’m a part of, it’s going to take work and a strategy. Food and travel are obviously big on Instagram (not to mention my heart!) and I’m hoping that I can find a way to share my perspective and point of view. I want to grow as a photographer, and I’m making that a priority in 2017. So make sure to follow along 😉
Since I tend to measure moments by places and projects rather than time, here are some of my favourite shots from 2016, organized by destination.
