In RECAP ROLLA

I’m currently writing this from a hotel airport – I’m heading out to Moncton, New Brunswick in a couple hours, so I’ll try to keep things brief!

When I first sat down to write this post, I was a little disappointed to see that I hadn’t produced a lot of video content this month. However, I realized that’s because September was for focusing on other areas and opportunities. I hosted live shows, revamped the travel section of my website, launched an online store, and guess what? I’m gearing up for a music album release in October.

TIFF x Facebook Live

I think I finally conquered my fear of live broadcasts – by doing 12 days of them for the Toronto International Film Festival. I was approached to be the host of a daily Facebook Live show, and while I was a bit hesitant to do it solo, I ultimately decided that the only way to conquer my fear was to jump right in and practice. It was a great experience overall, and if you’re interested, I’ve put together a post with some tips.

With this experience under my belt, I feel a lot more confident about live hosting – which will hopefully open up a whole new set of opportunities. Anyone need a Facebook Live host?

MES Conference

On the topic of doing things live: I spoke on a panel about influencer marketing at the Marketing Evolution Summit in Toronto. I was joined by a host of other brand representatives and Erica Ehm, who is basically Canadian media royalty. No big.

I really appreciate the opportunity to speak at these conferences. I think I bring a different, more realistic perspective than what most people seem to share: do what you love and work hard! Yeah, ok that’s great advice…

Branded Content for September

No branded content was released on my channels this month. *sound of money flying away into the sunset*

What’s next?

As I mentioned at the beginning of this post, I’m heading to Moncton to shoot a travel piece for Buffer Festival, which is happening on October 20.

I’m going to release a new compilation album full of my favourite tunes produced over the past 10 years. It’s called POP/FUN and the first part will be my pop tunes, while the second will be all the comedy stuff. Right now the tracklist is sitting at 22 (and yes, that was intentional #22songs) with 3 new tracks that you can look forward to. I’m not fucking around anymore. Look forward to some big music releases in the weeks to come.

I’m itching to get back on the road once Buffer is over and I release POP/FUN, so fingers crossed that some potential deals work out. Waiting really is the hardest part! I foresee a lot of spontaneous travel being booked as I race to maintain my airline and hotel status for 2017. (Can we talk about the Starwood + Marriott merger? I’ll leave that for another post.)

I missed a few uploads for YouTube and part of it is because I was busy hosting the TIFF show and trying to have a life, but I also couldn’t bring myself to slap something together. I still have standards and I’m trying to figure out how much I want to compromise for the sake of sticking to a schedule. It’s a delicate balance! I’m not yet convinced that posting this much is helping my channel, but I’m at least sticking to either Monday or Thursday.

Well, that’s it for me! Thanks for reading, and if you have any thoughts on all of this, let me know in the comments below!
