On Day 3 of our Eastern European tour we were our way to the Czech Republic, but not before making a quick stop in Dresden, a town completely rebuilt after being flattened in World War II. After a short lunch break, we were off to Prague.
Contiki Eastern Road: Day 3 & 4
When we arrived in Prague, we connected with our local guide who took us on a walking tour of the city – we learned about the history of the Old Town and we also visited some sites where Hollywood movies have been filmed.
A biking tour through Prague was the perfect way to explore the rich history and sights of the old town – including the Jewish Quarter (which was once preserved and meant to be an “exotic museum for an extinct race”. Along the way, we came across some sculptures by Czech artist David Cherny.
With some free time that afternoon, we knew that there was only one attraction that we had to see: the Sex Machines Museum.
Later that day, we visited the site of a nuclear bunker, where we learned about the history of these types of spaces – and got a feel for what it would be like to have to stay in one.
We ended a very busy day of sightseeing with a meal at a restaurant in the city centre, featuring traditional music, dance, and games.
